Shared Stories - “Threadbare”

(a Mixed Media Quilt Project)

Last Updated 10/7/24

Jennifer hopes to reopen the material collection in 2025 for “Threadbare,” a mixed-media quilt unveiled in August 2024 as part of the installation “Of the Mind” at the Corrine Woodman Gallery of The Arts Center of Corvallis, Oregon. Material, Story, and Photo contributions support this work.

  • Material Donations (currently closed for collection): Jennifer is collecting various vintage materials to include in this project (with any excess to be used in future installation and quilt projects). Preferred materials include vintage fabric (preferably with embroidery, knit, crocheted, or other similar details) and vintage threads (embroidery or sewing). To contribute your materials to this project, please contact Jennifer for a Material Intake Form. All donations will be handled with care, honored for their significance and history, and recognized for their contribution when included in a public art display. Anonymous donations (without a form) are also accepted. Feel free to note your preference when you contact Jennifer.

  • Hexagon Contributions (currently closed for collection): Jennifer continues to collect contributions of hexagons using fiber-based or other crafting skills (knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing, painting, etc.) and any skill level, to add to her mixed media quilt. A hexagon template is available HERE. Please contact Jennifer for submission instructions, with any questions, or for any upcoming group-making events. If you are a skilled knitter and would like to try Jennifer’s FREE Trillium-inspired Hexagon pattern - the PDF is available below.

  • Photo Contributions (currently closed for collection): Jennifer is currently collecting stories of personal memories of making (sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafting, etc.) with or by people in your life with a photo of a person, place, or memorabilia that tells the story. Photos will be transferred to fabric for inclusion in this project.

Jennifer started this project in 2022. Unfortunately, she was unable to finish it at that time. Now, she is excited to announce its re-launch - once again planning to collect materials for a future installation project proposal (date and location to be determined) for 2025. More information will be available soon. Please contact Jennifer to be notified when this project is re-launched later this year.
