Oil & Acrylic Paintings

Having studied Fine Arts at the University of Washington in Seattle under the direction of Professor Eugene Pizzuto, I graduated with a BFA in painting in 1992. During that time I learned to create thoughtful compositions with an emphasis on color, texture, and various mark-making techniques using mostly charcoal and oil paints as my preferred mediums. Post-graduation and after several years away from the art world, I returned to painting, choosing instead to use my oil painting skills from college with the new and improved acrylic paints of the time. I quickly became hooked on the vivid colors and easy layering of textures and shapes that became my signature painting style. After 15 years of exploring the medium, however, I have come full circle back to painting again with oils while bringing all the techniques I learned from my years with acrylic paints into a slower, more thoughtful, oil painting experience. Following you will find a selection of both Acrylic and Oil Paintings as well as a combination of the two used with occasional printmaking and drawing techniques and materials included within the painting process.
