Jennifer Lommers Workshop: Playing with Vintage Materials in Collage
Appropriate for all levels - from beginner to advanced. Simple sewing and embroidery will be encouraged in the process (and taught, as needed), but no prior experience is required.

Current Workshop Location Options

  • Corvallis, Oregon - Corl House

  • Private Parties (available in Salem, Eugene, Corvallis, Albany, and surrounding areas for no additional fee)

In this workshop, participants will create collage art from an assortment of vintage and personal items. Each participant will leave with at least 1 (and possibly more) small finished collages, approximately 5x7 inch in size.

Collaging with vintage materials started for Jennifer with collections of items she received from her own family’s history. Wanting to find purpose and new meaning for these items became a passion that fitted well within her broader desire to be economical with resources and more thoughtful in her artistic choices.

Jennifer’s teaching style is casual and conversational, letting the students explore much of the process. Jennifer will provide an introduction (discussing composition, application and adornment techniques, and methods for storytelling with the art) and then will start working with individual participants, stopping for informal group sharing and redirecting as needed. The workshop will finish with each participant choosing and sharing their favorite collage of the day to mount on a mat board for display (last 1/2 hour of class).

Approximate class time: 3 hours

Space is limited - Reserve your space today!
